KEEP IT SIMPLE

If I Knew THIS Before I Started Training and Transforming, I Would’ve Avoided So Many Ups and Downs

 

I’ve been training for almost 20 years at this point.

 

And if I’m being honest, I’ve only been doing it “right” for the last 7 years or so.

 

When I started training, all I knew was bench press.

 

So that’s all I did.

 

Not to mention my nutrition was all over the place.

 

In fact, when I first started I had no idea how important diet and nutrition was to your results

And throughout my years, I’ve tried damn near every training and nutrition style out there

 

I did Insanity with Shaun T
I became a vegetarian
I did CrossFit
I tried Keto
I did strictly calisthenics
I did intermittent fasting

 

And that’s just what I can remember off the top of my head!

 

Needless to say, I over complicated the whole thing

 

Because there’s ONE THING I’ve learned over the last few years that has not only gotten me the best physical results that I’ve ever seen, but has also allowed me to help HUNDREDS of other people achieve the same thing

 

And that one thing is…

 

SIMPLICITY + REPETITION = RESULTS

 

When I simplified my training program, I saw the best results I had ever seen.

 

I’m talking about MASTERING a few simple movements and progressing them.

 

Bench Press

Deadlift

Squat

Overhead Press

Pull Up/Lat Pull Down

 

If you look closely, you can build an extremely effective program around these movements by making them the focal point of your training and adding Accessory Movements that compliment main lift.

 

Extremely simple.

 

And what makes it effective is the progression.

 

Every time you train, you increase one or more variables:

  • Weight/Resistance
  • Reps
  • Sets

 

This is how strength is built.

 

And simplicity can and should be applied to nutrition as well

 

Whenever I start with a new client, we do what’s called an elimination diet where we strip their diet down to lean protein, vegetables, and simple carbs

 

From here, I let them design their own style of eating that meets caloric and macronutrient criteria

 

Now the key is once they find dishes they like AND you begin to see your desired results, KEEP DOING IT!

 

It wasn’t until I personally became ok with eating the same thing everyday that I started to see the best results

 

That is because it was easy to stick to

 

And that’s the key: ADHERENCE

 

A simple and repetitive program makes it so much easier for you to stick to because there’s very little to think about.

 

And once it all becomes routine, it doesn’t really matter if you’re “enjoying” it or not

 

Just like your job

You may not necessarily enjoy every aspect of work, but you definitely enjoy that paycheck!

 

So from now on, I want you to think about your body and fitness like you’re running a business

 

You have SOPs (standard operating procedures) in place that ensure things get done independent of how anyone feels at any particular moment

 

They are repetitive

Done on a daily basis

And most importantly… PRODUCE RESULTS!

 

So keep it simple.

 

You don’t need a bunch of overly complex movements or some extra elaborate nutrition plan.

 

The less steps, the less you have to think about.

 

And the better, more consistent and long lasting results you will see in your fitness journey.
