You Don’t Train To Lose Weight

“You don’t train to lose weight”

I bet your immediate response to that statement is “Huh?”

It’s true… we don’t workout to lose weight.

You do it to improve the way your body functions.
You do it to enhance your body composition.
You do it to get stronger.
You do it to look better naked.

Your nutrition is responsible for weight loss.

You can workout until you’re blue in the face but if you’re over consuming calories, that weight isn’t going anywhere.

Your physical activity plays a role in the amount of calories your body uses everyday, but it doesn’t directly influence weight loss.

(weight loss is a shitty goal to have anyway)

In this week’s episode of The VXG Podcast I break down why understanding why the statement at the top of this post is true will change how you approach your fitness journey.

I simplify the science behind weight loss and the role training plays in the process of getting lean, while also detailing the shift you need to make create the results you actually want to create.
